Just a quick update on Kotobukiya's Nina Williams Bishoujo statue. Kotobukiya held a panel at last weekend's WonderCon to preview their Spring 2014 line-up where attendees got an exclusive first look at the Nina Williams statue which is next in line in their Tekken Tag Tournament 2 bishoujo run.
Luckily, Tomopop and Nerdreactor were attending and sharing pictures
shortly after, so we can all get a decent look at what was shown. It's
an unpainted prototype still pending licensor approval and the pictures
aren't especially rich in detail or resolution, but you can easily make
out the attention to detail the figure has been given, from sculpted strands
of hair to the little smirk on Nina's face that we saw in Yamashita's
illustration. I love what I'm seeing, Kotobukiya, don't fuck this up
with a shoddy paint job (They never actually do, but I've been reading
reports about colour bleeding on some of their products, and considering
the intricate paintjob Nina is probably going to require with all the
multi colour camo in her outfit, this has me slightly worried).
With any luck, approval won't take very long and we will soon see Harada posting firsthand pictures of a painted prototype on Twitter.

Yay!

Thank goodness, Kotobukiya saved my money, because I never buy this crap statue.
ReplyDeleteCome on! You'll buy at least 2 of these ;-)
DeleteMildly disappointed they apparently didn't bring the unpainted fig along to plop in a display case on the show floor; that's usually a nice way to get more flattering photos out at an early stage. Still getting this, though. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen's the next big toy/comic convetion taking place? ComicCon in July? Hopefully we'll see a prototype on the show floor there.
DeleteStill, I very much like what I'm seeing already!
Glad to see you're still updating us with Nina goodies ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see I have a new reader writing comments :-))
Delete...Wait.. is that a wooden stake piercing a Chakram in your profile picture. Looks like our love for Nina isn't the only thing we have in common!! :-D
You've probably seen it, but from Harada's Twitter we got the first official pic of the painted model. Looks great! The colours are more muted than the art but are more game-accurate for it, and the camo patterning looks smooth.

Yes, the colours & camo look great. Much better than I expected. The hair is beautiful, too. I really didn't like the use of clear plastic in the hair of the other figures, so I'm glad to see that Nina has none of that or at least minimal.
