I spy with my little eye... someone who's wearing her black Death by Degrees cocktail dress for her next Tekken pachinko outing...
Earlier this month, Namco gave us a first look at their next Tekken pachinko machine via this trailer. Even though the trailer primarily focuses on the many standout features of the CR Tekken pachinko while having us witness yet another father and son quarrel, a new character artwork for Nina can briefly be seen close to the end of the trailer. There have been several Tekken pachinko and pachislot machines released over the years, for most of them Namco have had their franchise licensed to Yamasa. For CR Tekken Namco worked together with Fields, who have previously released pachinkos and pachislots for several well known Capcom titles including Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 4, Sengoku Basara 3 and Monster Hunter. Manufactured by Bisty, CR Tekken will adopt their new chassis design featuring a controller for an interactive feature called "Real Motion Battle" and is scheduled to release on November 5, 2013. The pachinko/pachislot industry is one of the biggest free-time-activity industries in Japan. The so-called Japanese "leisure market" rakes in a yearly ¥67 trillion (roughly $874 billion), while the Pachinko/Pachislot industry covers about 30% of that market, a yearly ¥19,3 trillion, second only to Gaming/Gambling/Eating Out (¥24,2 trillion), and way ahead of Hobby (¥10,8 trillion), Sightseeing/Excursions (¥9,5 trillion) and Sports (¥4,0 trillion). A rough 15 ∼ 18 million people or about 1 in 7 Japanese use pachinko machines in their free time. Japan's major gambling addiction aside, it's quite funny; while we may look in confusion at the hectic action depicted in the trailer and laugh off CR Tekken as an exotic oddity, quite a few people will actually see Nina gracing hundreds of screens in Japan's massive pachinko parlors more regularly than we see her on the 60'' our PlayStation3 is plugged into. Lucky them!
And thus the long wait to scrounge up an HQ print of this new artwork begins...

If anything, Nina fans are probably some of the most patient. I usually spend 70%-80% of my 'Nina time' (ohgod lol) re-/searching and waiting haha But that's one of the reasons why such a blurry little screenshot of new art can be so exciting, and getting HQ versions of images months and sometimes years later feels so rewarding. Imagine being a fan of Lara Croft and having been swamped with stuff ever since 1996... I would have quit long ago

ReplyDeleteSorry, no such luck for now. I've spent some time browsing Japanese sites, but all that I found were some elaborate brochures Namco has been handing out to industry people regarding the release of the new pachinko. There's also a CD with the official soundtrack of CR Tekken, but no official art has been released as of yet. I'll have access to digital press kits if we're lucky enough and Namco cares to send info/art/etc to GamesPress. But I highly doubt it, since this thing is never going to release anywhere outside of Japan.
