Nina as seen in the 1996 Tekken 2 calendar. Pack it up, all you Pirelli Calendar girls and Playmate of the Month candidates, this is the hottest Miss March ever to grace a calendar :-)
I'm working on the video right now. There's no way to make any use of the sound files though, since this particular proprietary criware hca codec hasn't been cracked yet. But I'm putting together a little video compilation thing featuring all the Nina (and most of the Anna) content. Will be up on youtube either later today or tomorrow.
I'm sure I've seen cut-off versions of this render elsewhere, but this is the first time seeing it in full. Nice! Obviously it's dated now, but the character model is very smooth-edged, and the way light and shadow spills across her legs is pretty impressive for the time. And I do miss the days when promo renders were A) not just the character select ones and B) tried a little harder to get across character traits. Nina brandishing a gun gives her a lot more meaningful purpose than if she was just standing there.
On the downside, they screwed up the camo-print. That actually looked okay on the in-game model, but here it's just...yellow smudge. Like she fell over in a funny-coloured puddle a minute ago and couldn't find a towel. :(
Good old days, he?! They went all out for Tekken 2 creating so many of these CG promo renders back then; they had like 5-10 for each character's P1 AND P2 outfit. Now we're lucky if we even get a proper second player costume in-game. :-(
Have you heard the news that the guest artists working on character costumes for Tekken 7 will actually be redesigning some of the characters instead of just designing extra costumes for them? This is all supposedly according to Markman (Aris talked about this on one of the latest ATP Live episodes). ...Makes me wonder what the chances are that Nina might be getting a redesign... I don't even know if I love or hate the idea...
Hmm, I must've missed that particular nugget in amidst all the recapping. For whatever reason I find it hard to listen to podcasts from 'the community'.
For Nina...ehhhhh. On the one hand I've been clamouring for Nina to get some love from the guest artists for ages and am continually frustrated, so at this point I'll take anything (excluding nightmares like TTT2 Anna's octokini). On the other, love it or hate it (and I am firmly in the former camp) but the T5 spacesuit is now seemingly accepted as 'the' Nina outfit, and while some characters benefit from a constantly shifting wardrobe (Yoshimitsu) most tend to thrive when they find one good look and stick with it. And I don't trust that whatever could come down the pipeline to replace the spacesuit would be better.
Hi Buddy, did you finish posting the videos from that tekken CR game? im waiting to see Nina beat Anna there!
